Daniel 6: 25-28

[25] Then King Darius wrote:
To all peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth:
Peace be multiplied to you.
[26] I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel.
For He is the living God,
And steadfast forever;
His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed,
And His dominion shall endure to the end.
[27] He delivers and rescues,
And He works signs and wonders
In heaven and on earth,
Who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.
[28] So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

Psalm 113: 5-7

[5] Who is like the LORD our God,
Who dwells on high,
[6] Who humbles Himself to behold
The things that are in the heavens and in the earth?
[7] He raises the poor out of the dust,
And lifts the needy out of the ash heap,
[8] That He may seat him with princes—
With the princes of His people.
[9] He grants the barren woman a home,
Like a joyful mother of children.
Praise the LORD!

Romans 8: 31-39

[31] What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? [32] He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? [33] Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. [34] Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. [35] Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? [36] As it is written:

“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”*[Psalm 44:22]

[37] Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. [38] For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, [39] nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Genesis 4: 3-7

[3] And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the LORD. [4] Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the LORD respected Abel and his offering, [5] but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell. [6] So the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? [7] “If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”

1 Kings 18: 30-40

[30] Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come near to me.” So all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down. [31] And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the LORD had come, saying, “Israel shall be your name.”* [32] Then with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD; and he made a trench around the altar large enough to hold two seahs of seed. [33] And he put the wood in order, cut the bull in pieces, and laid it on the wood, and said, “Fill four waterpots with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice and on the wood.” [34] Then he said, “Do it a second time,” and they did it a second time; and he said, “Do it a third time,” and they did it a third time. [35] So the water ran all around the altar; and he also filled the trench with water. [36] And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, “LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. [37] “Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that You are the LORD God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.” [38] Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench. [39] Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The LORD, He is God! The LORD, He is God!” [40] And Elijah said to them, “Seize the prophets of Baal! Do not let one of them escape!” So they seized them; and Elijah brought them down to the Brook Kishon and executed them there.

Deuteronomy 10: 17-22

17 For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribe. 18 He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing. 19 Love the sojourner, therefore, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt. 20 You shall fear the Lord your God. You shall serve him and hold fast to him, and by his name you shall swear. 21 He is your praise. He is your God, who has done for you these great and terrifying things that your eyes have seen. 22 Your fathers went down to Egypt seventy persons, and now the Lord your God has made you as numerous as the stars of heaven.

Proverbs 3: 9-12

[9] Honor the LORD with your possessions,
And with the firstfruits of all your increase;
[10] So your barns will be filled with plenty,
And your vats will overflow with new wine.
[11] My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD,
Nor detest His correction;
[12] For whom the LORD loves He corrects,
Just as a father the son in whom he delights.
[11] My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD,
Nor detest His correction;
[12] For whom the LORD loves He corrects,
Just as a father the son in whom he delights.

Psalm 97: 9-12

[9] For You, LORD, are most high above all the earth;
You are exalted far above all gods.
[10] You who love the LORD, hate evil!
He preserves the souls of His saints;
He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.
[11] Light is sown for the righteous,
And gladness for the upright in heart.
[12] Rejoice in the LORD, you righteous,
And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.

Proverbs 1: 7-19

[7] The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,
But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Shun Evil Counsel
[8] My son, hear the instruction of your father,
And do not forsake the law of your mother;
[9] For they will be a graceful ornament on your head,
And chains about your neck.
[10] My son, if sinners entice you,
Do not consent.
[11] If they say, “Come with us,
Let us lie in wait to shed blood;
Let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause;
[12] Let us swallow them alive like Sheol,*
And whole, like those who go down to the Pit;
[13] We shall find all kinds of precious possessions,
We shall fill our houses with spoil;
[14] Cast in your lot among us,
Let us all have one purse”—
[15] My son, do not walk in the way with them,
Keep your foot from their path;
[16] For their feet run to evil,
And they make haste to shed blood.
[17] Surely, in vain the net is spread
In the sight of any bird;
[18] But they lie in wait for their own blood,
They lurk secretly for their own lives.
[19] So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain;
It takes away the life of its owners.

1 Kings 17: 8-16

[8] Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying, [9] “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.” [10] So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, indeed a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, “Please bring me a little water in a cup, that I may drink.” [11] And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.” [12] So she said, “As the LORD your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.” [13] And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son. [14] “For thus says the LORD God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the LORD sends rain on the earth.’” [15] So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. [16] The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the LORD which He spoke by Elijah.
